Alternately, you can select an album from Smithsonian Global Sound. To access this database from off campus you will need a C.O.D. Library card.

Follow these steps to find African music from Smithsonian Global Sound

• Start from the Library home page at http://www.cod.edu/library
• Click on Databases in the green navigation bar
• Under the Humanities category, click on Music
• Scroll down to Smithsonian Global Sound

• On the left side click on Country
• Click on Africa, Sub-Saharan
• Select the region of Africa you want
• You can select a specific country or view the tracks for the entire region.

Make sure you select a track that has liner notes. You will be able to click on the title of the album to see and hear the other tracks on the album, but you can only see the liner notes from the track listing so you will need to toggle back and forth.

NOTE: The liner notes work better in Internet Explorer. They often will not display when using Firefox.
