The 1960s in America were a time of popular unrest and social change. Those changes are reflected in many areas including, but not limited to music, literature, television, and movies. In many ways, the ‘60s was an era of movements: the Civil Rights Movement; the Women’s Movement; the Anti-War Movement; the Free Love Movement; Student Protest Movements.
This guide has been put together to assist you in researching your paper or presentation about the ‘60s. Whether your topic concerns the Vietnam War, the Sexual Revolution, or Pop Art, you should be able to get started by using some of the resources we’ve listed here. Remember that the ‘60s is not just a 10-year period. Events that pertain to your topic may have occurred from 1955 to 1975, but still relate to what we call the ‘60s. If you’ve read through the guide but aren’t sure how to get started, please visit a reference librarian who’ll be happy to help.
