The Library has four different types of collections of books.
You can do a "subject" or a "keyword" search to find materials.
Tip: A subject search locks you into just the subject headings; a keyword search looks for your words everywhere in the catalog. Do a keyword to expand your possibilities, but always try a subject search first.
Below are sample Subject searches to get started browsing the books in the Library's General Collection. Take a look at how the subjects are set up: Big to very narrow.
Tip: The Library of Congress subject heading for Interior Design is: "Interior Decoration." sorry! ;)
Subject: Interior Decoration (The BIG topic)
Subject: Interior Decoration History (Narrower topic)
Subject: Interior Decoration United States (Even more narrow)
Draperies (Super narrow topic)
