Holiday Movies on Video

You can see It's a Wonderful Life every day from Thanksgiving until Christmas Day on TV and maybe fit in a viewing of A Charlie Brown Christmas and the perennial favorite A Christmas Story.

But here are a few gems from the Library's collection which you may or may not catch on TV over the next few weeks. Take our suggestions or browse through our collection for dozens of other classics. Don't forget to look at our Juvenile section for Christmas favorites like Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

It's Christmastime for the Griswolds. There are 25,000 lights on the rooftop, an exploding turkey on the table, and a dozen or so guests. (VHS)

Elf

An orphaned human baby accidently crawls into Santa's sack one Christmas Eve and ends up at the North Pole where he is raised with elves. Buddy the Elf doesn't fit in with the other elves, so he goes to New York in search of his real father who doesn't yet know that he has a son. Buddy finds a job in a department store Christmas village and with the help of a beautiful department store elf and his new found family, helps to get Santa's crashed sleigh out of Central Park in time to complete Christmas deliveries.
