- Pics4Learning
- A wide variety of subjects is covered. "The original photographers of each image retain the copyright to these images and have graciously allowed their use in this collection. The images may not be sold as an image collection or partial image collection. Images in the Pics4Learning collection may be used by teachers and students in print, multimedia, and video productions. These could include, but are not limited to, school projects, contests, web pages, and fund raising activities for the express purpose of improving student educational opportunities."

- University of Wisconsin Digital Collections

- Wikipedia Public Domain Images
- Provides access to images in a variety of topics. Although this site implies that all of the images found are freely available, the presence of a resource on this list does not guarantee that all or any of the images in it are in the public domain. You are still responsible for checking the copyright status of images before you submit them to Wikipedia.
- WorldImages
- The WorldImages database contains almost 75,000 images from the California State University IMAGE Project. "Conditions of Use: You are free to use these images for non-profit educational purposes, but we ask that you give credit to the copyright holders who retain rights to the images. These works are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 2.5 License."
